Agreement and eligibility

These Terms govern your use of the Cortly AI iOS app, AI Coach and related website. By using Cortly, you agree to these Terms and the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

You must be legally able to accept these Terms. Cortly is not directed to children under 13; users below the age required by local law need authorization from a parent or guardian.

What Cortly provides

Cortly organizes self-reported lifestyle context and optional Apple Health signals into educational Stress Load, Recovery Status, data coverage, trends and coaching information. Features may vary by device, permissions, subscription and data availability.

Cortly grants you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable license to use the app for lawful personal purposes.

Not medical care or a cortisol measurement

How Stress Load is estimated

Stress Load is a deterministic educational index on a 0–100 scale. It can combine available sleep duration and quality, wake timing, perceived stress, caffeine and alcohol timing and dose, movement and workouts, recent heart and respiratory signals, comparison with a personal baseline and data coverage. Inputs are grouped, capped and recency-weighted to reduce double counting and false precision. Missing signals lower confidence rather than being treated as normal.

Optional Signal Context—such as illness, shift work, pregnancy/postpartum or relevant medication—makes interpretation more cautious. It does not diagnose those states. Some signals are shown only as context and do not directly change the index.

The method is informed by published research, including reviews on wearables and stress detection, HRV and stress, wearable HRV accuracy, sleep loss and cortisol, alcohol and sleep, and caffeine and cortisol response. These sources inform product logic; they do not clinically validate Cortly's index or make individual predictions certain.

Limitations of wearable and self-reported data

Consumer sensors and HealthKit samples can be delayed, missing, duplicated, device-dependent or less accurate during movement. Self-reported entries can be incomplete. Stress also has psychological, social and medical dimensions that a wearable cannot fully observe.

Results may change when new data arrives or when you refresh the app. A calm feeling can coexist with physiological load, and a high estimate does not prove illness or elevated cortisol. Use trends as context, not as a verdict.

AI Coach

Coach responses are generated through OpenAI after you grant the app explicit permission to share your Coach message and relevant context as described in our Privacy Policy. You can decline and continue using Cortly without AI Coach.

Automated responses may be incomplete, inaccurate or unsuitable for your situation. Coach is designed for stress, sleep, recovery and lifestyle education—not diagnosis, medication decisions, crisis support or professional medical care.

You are responsible for reviewing responses before acting on them. Do not submit unlawful content or information you do not have the right to share. We may apply safety filters, rate limits and refuse or redirect requests outside the Coach's purpose.

Apple Health and permissions

Apple Health connection is optional and read-only. You control permissions and can revoke them at any time. Without sufficient data, some automation and trends may be unavailable and manual check-ins remain available. Cortly is not responsible for data availability, sensor behavior or Apple Health service changes.

Pro subscriptions, billing and cancellation

Cortly Pro may be offered as weekly or annual auto-renewable subscriptions. The App Store purchase sheet shows the current localized price, billing period and any introductory offer before you confirm. Payment is charged to your Apple ID.

Subscriptions renew automatically unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, subject to Apple's applicable terms. You can manage or cancel in Apple ID subscription settings. Deleting Cortly does not cancel a subscription. Restore Purchases checks the active entitlement associated with your App Store account. Refund requests are handled under Apple's policies and mandatory consumer law.

Acceptable use

You must not misuse Cortly, attempt unauthorized access, bypass subscription controls, disrupt the service, extract protected systems or prompts, use automated traffic that harms availability, or use Coach to facilitate unlawful or harmful conduct.

You are responsible for the accuracy of information you enter and for securing your device. Cortly may suspend access to server features when reasonably necessary for security, abuse prevention or legal compliance.

Ownership and feedback

Cortly, its interface, software, branding and original content are protected by intellectual property law. These Terms do not transfer ownership to you. You retain rights in content you submit. If you provide feedback, you permit us to use it to improve Cortly without obligation to compensate you.

Availability and changes

We aim to keep Cortly reliable, but do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, permanent support for every sensor or compatibility with every device. We may improve, remove or change features, models and subscription offerings. Material changes affecting paid functionality will be handled consistently with applicable consumer law.

Disclaimers and liability

To the maximum extent allowed by law, Cortly is provided "as is" and "as available" without guarantees that estimates or AI responses will be accurate, complete or fit for a specific purpose. Nothing in these Terms excludes warranties or rights that cannot legally be excluded.

To the maximum extent allowed by law, Cortly is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential loss arising from reliance on educational estimates, third-party services or unavailable data. Mandatory consumer protections and liability that cannot be limited remain unaffected.

Ending use and changes to these Terms

You may stop using Cortly at any time and separately cancel any active subscription through Apple. We may terminate or restrict access for serious misuse, legal requirements or security risks.

We may update these Terms as Cortly evolves. Material updates will be shown in the app or on this page. Continued use after an effective update means acceptance where permitted by law.
